What is a Resource Plan?

A resource plan outlines the resources an organization needs in order to achieve its goals. Resource plans can also help organizations identify areas where they can reduce waste and improve efficiency.

What's included in this Resource Plan template?

  • 3 focus areas
  • 6 objectives
  • 6 projects
  • 6 KPIs

Each focus area has its own objectives, projects, and KPIs to ensure that the strategy is comprehensive and effective.

Who is the Resource Plan template for?

This resource plan template is designed to help resource managers in various industries efficiently allocate resources across multiple projects. It provides a comprehensive framework to define clear objectives, set measurable targets, and implement the necessary projects to achieve those targets.

1. Define clear examples of your focus areas

A focus area is a goal or area of interest that you want to improve with your resource plan. It is important to have clear focus areas as they provide the direction and focus needed to achieve your goals. Examples of strategic focus areas that could fall under a Resource Plan could be: Improve Resource Allocation, Improve Resource Alignment, and Improve Resource Efficiency.

2. Think about the objectives that could fall under that focus area

An objective is a specific goal that you want to achieve within your focus area. Objectives should be measurable and achievable in order to be effective. Examples of some objectives for the focus area of Improve Resource Allocation could be: Increase Efficiency of Resource Utilization, and Decrease Waste of Resources.

3. Set measurable targets (KPIs) to tackle the objective

KPIs, or key performance indicators, are measurable targets that can be used to track progress towards an objective. For example, under the objective “increase efficiency of resource utilization”, a KPI could be to “increase resource utilization rate from 50% to 75%.” KPIs should be specific and achievable in order to be effective.

4. Implement related projects to achieve the KPIs

Projects are the actions that must be taken in order to achieve the KPIs. For example, in order to achieve the KPI “increase resource utilization rate from 50% to 75%”, a project could be to “enhance resource management.” Projects should be relevant and achievable in order to be effective.

5. Utilize Cascade Strategy Execution Platform to see faster results from your strategy

The Cascade Strategy Execution Platform is a powerful tool to help resource managers quickly and accurately monitor the progress of their resource plans. Cascade’s dashboard provides a clear, real-time view of progress and enables managers to quickly adjust their plans to ensure success.
